AJ Aviation provides premier maintenance services for piston and turbine aircraft. While we service various light jets, our team specializes in the King Air platform.
The Role
The Lead A&P Mechanic – is responsible for leading and performing maintenance, inspections, and repairs on single and multi-engine aircraft including turboprops and light jets. This role ensures all aircraft are maintained in safe, airworthy condition in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer specifications, and company standards. The Lead A&P serves as a technical authority on the shop floor, overseeing daily workflow, mentoring technicians, and maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Inspection
- Perform and supervise 100-hour, annual, progressive, and phase inspections
- Maintain and repair piston and turboprop engines like the PT6.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems, landing gear systems, fuel systems, and flight control systems.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and airworthiness documentation.
Leadership & Oversight
- The Lead A&P is tasked with ensuring that other mechanics carry out their duties safely, adhering fully to all manuals and procedures, while also upholding quality and productivity standards.
- Oversees and takes charge of the quality of all aircraft maintenance tasks.
- Provide input to improve overall shop productivity. If you see a better way to do something we want to hear about it!
- Outstanding organizational abilities, attentive to details, capable of prioritizing tasks, managing multiple responsibilities, and adhering to deadlines.
Qualifications
To excel in this position, it is essential that you possess:
- Extensive experience in the maintenance of piston and turboprop aircraft
- Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
- Experience performing annuals, 100-hour inspections, and phase inspections
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting PT6 or similar engines and all Lycoming and TCM models.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
- Leadership experience or demonstrated ability to lead a team
- Willingness to get IA within a reasonable amount of time if you don’t have it
- Experience with some or all the following models we regularly work on:
o Citation - 501, 550, 560XL, CJ1-4
o Beechcraft – Extensive King Air Modifications, repairs and general maintenance (all models), Baron, Bonanza
o Hawker 400A
o Cessna 150 up to 421.
o Mooney – All Models
o Maule – M5 and M7
o Cirrus – Piston Models
o All Piper models including M600 and Cheyenne Series
o North American T28C
o Experimental Cubs, Rans and many Vans RV models
Work Schedule
- Full-time; occasional overtime and weekend work based on workload.
- Limited on-call or AOG response as needed.
