Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate Degree from an accredited institution
- Excellent electronic and mechanical skills
- Hold a Federal Aviation Administration Remote Pilot Certificate also known as the Part 107 license
- Progressive industry experience in Unmanned Aerial Systems
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Commitment to Entrepreneurs Academy philosophy and student success
- Knowledge of flight controls, aerodynamics, the National Airspace System (NAS), aviation weather, aviation safety, ethical airmanship, FAA Registration, and community-based safety guidelines including insurance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent pilot skills
- 4+ years of experience working for another company as a drone pilot
- Experience with multiple different types of drones
- Excellent photography skill- FAA-certified UAV Pilot with a valid Part 107 certification.
- Proven experience in drone piloting and instruction, with a strong understanding of UAV technology and applications.
- Expertise in FAA Part 107 regulations, safety procedures, and airspace management.
- Strong knowledge of industry applications and the potential for monetization in the market.
- Excellent teaching and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire adult learners.
- Experience with drone photography, videography, and other professional UAV applications is a plus.
- Familiarity with multiple drone models and software (e.g., DJI, Autel, Pix4D) preferred
Position Description
SThe UAV Pilot Instructor will lead our 12-week Drones I and II Program, which is divided into two key parts: Introduction to Drones and FAA Part 107 Test Preparation. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of drone technology, industry applications, and monetization opportunities. A strong grasp of FAA Part 107 regulations and safety protocols is essential. The instructor will provide engaging classroom instruction and hands-on training while inspiring students to explore the professional potential of UAV technology.
Part 1: Introduction to Drones
- Duration: 6 weeks (2 days/week - 1 day in person, 1 day virtual) - this will vary based on need. Classes can turn to 100% in person.
- Focus: Drone basics, safety, flight training, and creative applications.
Part 2: FAA Part 107 Test Preparation
- Duration: 6 weeks (2 days/week - 1 day in person, 1 day virtual) - this will vary based on need. Classes can turn to 100% in person.
- Focus: Preparing students for FAA certification, including regulations, weather, and emergency procedures.
Essential Duties:
Teach Part 1: Introduction to Drones (6 weeks).
- Cover drone components, safety protocols, flight principles, and hands-on flight training.
- Introduce drone photography, videography, and other creative applications.
Teach Part 2: FAA Part 107 Test Preparation (6 weeks).
- Cover topics such as airspace regulations, weather conditions, emergency procedures, and Part 107 test material.
- Demonstrate how drones are used across various industries, including agriculture, real estate, construction, public safety, and media.
- Educate students on monetization opportunities and professional applications of UAV technology.
- Guide students in operating drones through real-world scenarios and obstacle courses.
- Provide practice exams and in-depth reviews of test content.
- Ensure all safety protocols and FAA regulations are strictly followed during training.Teach assigned classes using a variety of instructional methods to achieve student learning according to expected outcomes. Appropriately teach or present information, ideas, and skills in ways that accommodate different learning styles of a diverse student population.
- Stay up to date on current technology and incorporate it into class learning
- Determine need for supplies; ensure proper storage and security of supplies
- Create classroom activities and learning environments that meet the needs of all learners, including high school students, adult learners, and senior populations.
- A willingness to teach in the day, evening, on Saturday, at unconventional times or via distance learning as necessary
- Check drones before a flight to ensure safe and proper operation
- Analyze weather forecasts to ensure safe flights
- Document pre- and post-flight logs
- Monitor drones during flight
- Plan drone flight routes
- Navigate drones along designated paths
- Gather information or produce aerial photographs, as needed
- Perform equipment testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Classroom instructional techniques and procedures.
- Principles and procedures of academic and instructional program development and administration in the area of assignment.
- Current trends, research, and development in the area of assignment.
- Principles and procedures of record keeping.
- Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations, as appropriate.

- Working knowledge of UAV related computer applications and the ability to quickly learn new computer software.

- Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities.
- Create effective instruction for delivery in both online and physical classrooms while maintaining compliance with ADA standards.
- Interpret and apply federal, state, and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
