Overview
Gem Air is looking for a friendly, efficient person to be our main point of contact for passengers flying with us out of McCall during our summer season. The summer season runs June into September, with the bulk of work days in July and August.
Your actual schedule is based on flight need, which varies, though there are some regular flights that follow an 8-day rotation. To meet morning flights, you are normally at the airport for around 2-4 hours. For later flights, you might be there anywhere from 2-5 hours. You do not get paid by the hour, but by day and by passenger. See below for more details.
Responsibilities
- Be present at Gem Air’s McCall office at least :45 mins before morning departures, and 1:15 ahead of afternoon departure time
- As passengers arrive and check in, let them know what to expect as you and pilots prep for flights, and keep them informed of changes (which are frequent!)
- Weigh and organize passenger baggage for flights. Charge excess baggage fees, when applicable.
- Manage passenger traffic –keep pax in appropriate spaces and give pilots space to do their work.
- Communicate with the main office regarding any questions, problems, or flight delays.
- Keep the Gem Air McCall offices and common areas clean and orderly, and notify home office if any supplies are needed.
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills, strong preference for work history that includes customer service
- Must be able to be on time and perform duties without constant oversight
- Must be able to provide good and friendly customer service even when situations are frustrating
- Must be able available to work a variable schedule, to include any day of the week
- Must be able to lift at least 50lbs
Pay details
You are paid on contract, not as an employee. Pay is $50 per day we need you, plus another $25 if there are both AM and PM flights. Plus, an additional $2 for every passenger you handle out of Boise.
In 2025, if you had made yourself available every day we had a qualifying flight (4 or more passengers) you’d have worked 53 days (out of over 90 days) mostly in July and August, and sent off 600+ passengers, making just over $4,470. That averages over $84/day worked, for an average of between 2 and 6 hours of work/day.
Pay: $14.00 - $43.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
