Summary
The Airport Ground Transportation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily ground transportation operations at PDX.
This role provides leadership, direction, and operational oversight to frontline Ground Transportation Monitors while ensuring compliance with airport regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support Ground Transportation Monitors during daily operations.
- Serve as the primary point of escalation for customer, provider, and operational issues.
- Enforce airport, client, and company policies professionally and consistently.
- Review, complete, and submit detailed incident and activity reports.
- Coordinate with airport stakeholders, clients, and internal leadership.
- Monitor staffing levels and operational coverage.
- Perform routine facility walkthroughs to ensure safety and compliance.
- Assist with cleanup of debris, spills, and safety hazards as needed.
- Substitute in frontline positions when operationally required.
- Complete other management duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Prior supervisory experience in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to de-escalate situations and make sound decisions.
- Strong written communication skills, including formal incident reporting.
- Proficiency with computers and mobile tools, including email, spreadsheets, and reporting systems.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Port of Portland security badge.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Strong computer proficiency, including:
- Microsoft Outlook for email and scheduling
- Microsoft Excel for logs, reporting, and operational tracking
- Data entry and report documentation
- Printing and maintaining operational records
- Navigating web-based systems such as flight status and operational dashboards
- Ability to multitask between radios, phones, and computer systems during active operations
Additional Details
- This is a non-union hourly supervisory position.
- Training and uniforms are provided.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- This position requires frequent standing, walking, and outdoor work.
- Employees are regularly exposed to wind, rain, cold temperatures, and extreme heat.
- Work is performed around active traffic areas with exposure to noise and fumes from vehicles and aircraft.
- Occasional lifting or moving up to 50 lbs. may be required.
