Gilat Stellar Blu, a wholly owned subsidiary of Gilat, specializes in providing advanced satellite communication solutions for in-flight connectivity. With a focus on delivering reliable, high-speed satellite services to the aerospace industry, Gilat Stellar Blu enables seamless, scalable connectivity for commercial and business aviation.
We are looking for a hands-on Systems Engineering Manager with deep avionics experience who can lead both people and technology. This individual will help define next-generation airborne connectivity products by translating customer and business needs into system requirements, technical solutions, integration strategies, and verification plans while leading a high-performing engineering team.
Annual base salary range: $145,000–$160,000 USD
Responsibilities
- Lead the Systems Engineering team and provide technical leadership for avionics systems integration, verification, and validation activities.
- Define and decompose customer, regulatory, and product requirements into system-level requirements, technical specifications, architectures, and verification strategies.
- Support next-generation product development by defining system capabilities, interfaces, and technical solutions.
- Lead development of customer, system, and component-level test plans and test cases.
- Own delivery of system-level solutions, ensuring technical, quality, and program commitments are met.
- Lead resolution of technical challenges encountered during development, integration, and verification activities.
- Support certification and compliance activities, including requirements traceability, verification planning, test execution, and documentation.
- Collaborate closely with hardware, software, program, certification, and customer teams while representing the organization in technical discussions and customer reviews.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience with avionic systems and certification frameworks, such as DO‑160 and system‑level certification processes.
- Strong understanding of avionics system and software architectures, with the ability to define cohesive hardware/software solutions.
- Experience with common avionics and aerospace I/O interfaces, such as Ethernet, ARINC 429, CAN bus, RS‑232/422/485, discrete lines/gpios, and/or related data buses.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, including determinism, redundancy, latency, and certification considerations.
- Hands-on experience with Ethernet, IP, and web-based networking.
- Comfortable working on remote systems via command line (vi, ssh, scp, curl, wget, etc.).
- Experience with lab test tools such as Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Vector Network Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Variable Frequency Power Supplies, etc.
- Proven ability to decompose customer and regulatory requirements into optimized system designs, including block diagrams, technical descriptions, and hardware/software recommendations.
- Experience across the entire system development lifecycle, including design, configuration, testing, debugging, implementation, and configuration management.

Work Environment
This role operates in indoor settings, including office and warehouse/airplane hangar environments, requiring the use of standard office equipment and safety gear. Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration may occur.
