We are looking for an airplane mechanic to join our team!
RPM Aircraft Service is a small but growing shop that opened five years ago at Montgomery County Airpark (KGAI). RPM specializes in all forms of maintenance for piston singles and twins, in particular Mooney, Piper, and Beech aircraft. The shop is owned by an experienced pilot and IA/A&P with a decade of experience working on general aviation aircraft and has a small dedicated team of A&P's and technicians. This is an ideal position for a technician looking to build shop time to earn an A&P, an entry-level A&P looking to develop his or her skills working alongside experienced mechanics, or an experienced A&P looking to transition into general aviation work.
The ideal candidate should be willing to perform work on customers’ aircraft under the direction of the shop manager and be compatible working alongside RPM’s other full time A&Ps. Though experience with general aviation or hands-on mechanical experience is desirable, no previous A&P experience is required. Additionally, the ideal candidate should have demonstrated organizational, project management, and customer service skills necessary manage the maintenance needs of multiple planes simultaneously and answer questions from customers.
This is a small business with informal processes and hours can be flexible if needed. It is expected this position will start out part-time for a trial period. After the trial period, it is possible that this candidate can transition to a full time position with access to paid time off and other benefits. An A&P license is not required for this position, but preferred. Individuals looking for apprenticeships while working towards their A&P, or who only have their Airframe or Powerplant certificate, but not both, are welcome to apply.
