BASIC FUNCTION AND SCOPE
Perform moderate to highly complex maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repair, and servicing of the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III aircraft and its associated systems (airframe, hydraulics, flight controls, engine accessory systems, avionics, electrical, instruments, communication, navigation, radar, and auto-flight systems) in accordance with UAE GCAA regulations, Boeing technical data, USAF technical orders (when applicable), GAL procedures, and approved maintenance program requirements. Perform Organizational (O), Intermediate (I), and limited Depot (D)-level maintenance as authorized.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum 6–8 years of hands-on C-17 aircraft maintenance experience with certified training by either Boeing or the respective Air Force.
· Proven experience in aircraft servicing, component identification, troubleshooting, wiring systems and functional checks etc.
· C-17 Globemaster III type-training certificate (Airframe and/or Avionics), with experience at an operational airbase.
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
· In-depth knowledge of C-17 systems, technical order system, fault isolation, and maintenance practices.
· Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills on airframe and avionics systems.
· Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance tracking software; clear verbal and written communication.
· Excellent teamwork, high attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality; leadership-by-example attitude.
· Physical ability to work at heights, confined spaces, lift up to 25 kg, and wear PPE for extended periods.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, servicing, troubleshooting, repair, removal, and installation of C-17 airframe, and avionics systems.
· Conduct Home Station Checks, corrosion inspections, and special/scheduled inspections in accordance with the C-17 approved maintenance program.
· Use specialized test equipment, borescopes, and diagnostic software to isolate faults and verify repairs.
· Complete all required documentation accurately in GAL’s maintenance tracking system (e.g., AMOS or equivalent), forms, and aircraft logbooks.
· Operate and maintain all assigned Ground Support Equipment (GSE), equipment records, and special tools.
· Perform aircraft launch and recovery duties, including pre-flight, thru-flight, post-flight, and quick turnaround inspections.
· Provide technical advice on complex faults, guide junior technicians with on-the-job training; escalate unresolved issues promptly to minimize Aircraft on Ground (AOG) time.
· Prepare maintenance data, deficiency reports, technical data change recommendations, and trend analysis reports to improve reliability and fleet performance.
· Strictly comply with safety, quality, environmental, tool control, hazardous material handling, and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention policies.
· Support surge operations, deployments, and contingency tasks as required in additional to extra related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
SUPERVISION
· Supervisory Responsibility: None (may provide technical direction to junior technicians).
· Reports to: Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor / Shift Lead.
