Contractor for the Federal Aviation Administration is seeking a creative team player capable of all phases of digital photography. Candidates will be responsible for taking digital pictures of a wide variety of subject matter including but not limited to: on- and off-location event coverage, test sites, equipment, computer systems, awards, conferences, airshows, groups, single portraits with various backgrounds, and product photography. The photographer will be required to conceive and plan the technical photographic effects desired by operating officials and discuss modifications and improvements to their original ideas in light of the potential and limits of the equipment. Candidate must be able to capture highlighted activity that includes executive and high-level engagement, award ceremonies, large group shots and candid, journalistic photography at large or small enterprise events (both internal and external). Photographer will need to engage, influence and pose event participants. Candidate must be able to work with a team or as a one-person crew.
A minimum of an Associates Degree in Photography is required.
Candidate must have at least 4 years of related professional work experience in conventional or digital photography with emphasis on digital image editing, and have a working knowledge of producing photographic products such as framing, matting, and printing. Candidate must be experienced in the ability to utilize specific specialized equipment, which includes a digital Single Lens Reflex (SLR) camera with interchangeable lenses, multiple high-speed film and video cameras including Locams and Canon and Nikon cameras, as well as digital sequencing devices. The government shall provide all equipment for this purpose.
Candidate must have a strong knowledge in digital photo manipulation, color correction, and color grading on a PC and/or Mac platforms. (Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Creative Cloud applications a must). Proficiency in visual storytelling; shot composition; creative lighting techniques; digital capture and transmission; file conversion/compression. Properly light subjects using artificial or natural lighting and using flashes and reflectors where necessary.
Must possess strong organizational skills, ability to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment with multiple and/or competing deadlines while also meeting strict deadlines and ability to work effectively and collaboratively across organizational boundaries. Compose attention-grabbing images for social media and support workflows for real-time and near real-time social media distribution.
Many assignments given, afford only one opportunity to photograph the subject. Typical examples of equipment used at this level include ultra-high speed, motion picture production, specialized still and graphic cameras, electronic timing and triggering devices, etc. Some assignments are characterized by extremes in light values and the use of complicated equipment.
The photographer must provide technical expertise and skills to provide photographic documentation of pre- and post-test conditions of test articles. Employee will be working in occasional hazardous environments and will take all preventive safety precautions to ensure the well-being of team members and government property. Candidate will also help maintain camera equipment, studio equipment and lighting equipment as needed.
Employee may be required to: 1) travel for multiple days at a time, though travel typically limited to Monday through Friday; 2) Work in potentially hazardous environments, including the presence of explosives and in post-blast conditions; 3) Work in a primarily outdoor environment for extended periods of time; 4) Work in potentially harsh weather conditions including heat, cold, rain and snow.
Selected candidates will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements.
