Program: KC-46 Test Aircraft Maintenance Support (KTAMS), 412th Test Wing
We are seeking experienced Electronics Technician II and III professionals to support KC-46 aircraft avionics systems maintenance for developmental test operations at Edwards AFB . This position supports critical Air Force RDT&E missions and requires highly skilled avionics technicians with KC-46 or like-aircraft experience.
Union Position: This role is covered under the local IAM Union Chapter. All wages, benefits, and working conditions are governed by the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Position Overview
Technicians will perform maintenance on KC-46 avionics systems, including communication, navigation, defense systems, and related electronic components in accordance with Air Force Technical Orders and KTAMS procedures .
Electronics Technician II
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-flight and operational communications checks, including COMSEC handling
- Troubleshoot, isolate, and repair avionics, comm/nav, counter-measure, and environmental systems
- Remove/replace components and accomplish software uploads and service bulletins
- Enter and track maintenance data in required aircraft forms and MIS systems
- Maintain tool control, FOD prevention, and safety compliance
- Support TDY travel as required
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years KC-46 or like-aircraft avionics experience
- FAA Airframe License (required)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Electronics Technician III
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced avionics troubleshooting and system maintenance
- Provide technical direction to assigned personnel
- Conduct inspections, operational checks, and component repairs
- Coordinate workload with production supervision
- Ensure accurate maintenance documentation and MIS entries
- Support TDY travel as required
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 7 years KC-46 or like-aircraft avionics experience
- FAA Airframe License (required)
- Strong technical order knowledge and leadership capability
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Work Environment
- Aircraft hangar and flightline operations
- Compliance with AFI medical and drug testing requirements
- Strict adherence to safety, security, and maintenance standards
Qualified avionics technicians with heavy military aircraft experience are encouraged to apply.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $53.00 - $56.90 per hour
