GENERAL SUMMARY
The purpose of this job is to guarantee airport compliance with federal and state regulations regarding safety training and inspection requirements. Supervises staff performing activities related to airfield, facility, and security procedures. Engages in conferences and other executive meetings regularly, remaining updated on new regulatory developments. Manages labor relations with unions and commercial parties. Reviews inspection reports, employee training records, and audit processes. Acts as spokesperson on matters regarding permits, standards compliance, and airport operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises the work of assigned personnel including assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Develops, implements, and documents safety training programs per Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 139-Certification of Airports.
- Operates and maintains the Airport Security System to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations Part 1542 Airport Security; serves as the Alternate Airport Security Coordinator.
- Manages and oversees airport operations; approves purchases and invoices; submits purchase order requests.
- Ensures airport facilities, structures, and vehicles are maintained.
- Attends professional development conferences, Webinars, meetings, etc. with the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) and Michigan Association of Airport Executives (MAAE) to develop and implement airport safety and operational efficiency.
- Manages, reviews, and submits daily airfield inspection reports and employee training records to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration Part 139 and State of Michigan regulations as stated in our Airport Certification Manual (ACM.
- Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Aviation Management and Operations or a related field
- 5 to 7 years of related work experience in airport operations
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
