DIVERS WANTED - Work Outdoors This Summer!
Divers wanted for the 2026 summer season through September for employment in the NJ Highlands region for invasive aquatic plant removal using a hookah system.
PLEASE DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS JOB IF YOU ARE OVERSEAS OR DO NOT LIVE IN OR NEAR NORTHERN NEW JERSEY.
Applicants should be certified and have experience and a comfort level with underwater manual labor. The work includes two main activities:
1. Hookah diving on the lake bed at depths of between 5 and 20 feet removing aquatic plants by the roots and feeding the plants into a low pressure suction hose where they are brought to a sluice system on the deck and bagged for transport to shore.
2. Working topside with another team member to man the sluice system, monitor the hookah and suction pumps, and bag aquatic plants.
3. Licensed Boat Operators as an additional skill is needed as well.
Dive teams work Monday through Thursday, 8 AM to 6 PM from now through September.
Pay rate is $25 per hour.

ABOUT US
HIGLIN (Highlands Glacial Lakes Initiative) is a Northern NJ based invasive aquatic species (IAS) research and working group focusing on the study, improvement, and implementation of proven methods of mechanical removal of non native IAS, primarily milfoil. We work with lakes and lake corporations to educate, train, and organize the mechanical remediation portion of IAS removal strategies.
