Job Summary
The Aircraft Mechanic maintains, repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components, flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components of complex to extreme difficulty. High School Diploma or equivalent required, three (3) years of experience performing maintenance on aircraft being serviced or related experince required. FAA Airframe & Power Plant (A&P) license is required.
Under minimal supervision, services, repairs, and modifies aircraft airframe, engine, components and sub-systems, in accordance with company standards and applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and predetermined company processes and procedures. Provides technical assistance and guidance to other mechanics with less experience, as directed.
Duties
- Troubleshoots, repairs, replaces, and modifies aircraft structures, components and appliances, such as wings, fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, plumbing and hydraulic units, and engines, with minimal supervision.
- Responsible for reading and interpreting Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Technical Manuals, Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, Wire Schematics, local directives and other specifications to determine FAA approved maintenance requirements, methods and procedures.
- Accountable for examining engines for component damage and security, heat damage and fluid leaks. Inspects turbine blades to detect Foreign Object Damage (FOD) or material wear or failure through visual and borescope.
- Conducts testing of engine operation to locate source of malfunction and performs operational checks.
- Replaces worn, damaged and failed components such as fuel controller, starter/generators, etc. Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including but not limited to, changing and/or inspecting fuel and oil filters, cleaning screens, aircraft lubrication, and wheel and tire maintenance. Charge aircraft batteries, aircraft, and engine compressor wash, cleaning and servicing on-board water and sanitation systems. Mix paint and apply for touch-up of aircraft and components.
- Accountable for maintaining accurate aircraft discrepancy books, required forms, completes and Airframe and Engine forms/logbooks as well as all required FAA documentation.
- Responsible for accurately completing all reports, forms, and checklists as required, in accordance with company, and FAA regulations.
- Manages personnel in compliance with all safety requirements and uses all mandated safety equipment in accordance with company and OSHA requirements.
- Assists coworkers and those in other departments to successfully perform job duties and functions when necessary.
- Identify and support the development and training needs of junior personnel.
- Perform routine service requirements on equipment.
- Certification for engine run and taxi not mandatory but reflect full capability of this position and are highly recommended.
- Perform Post and Pre-Flight Inspections and servicing aircraft with fuel and medical equipment with oxygen.
- Able to work flexible schedule to include day and night shifts, weekends, holidays, etc.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Education/Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
Must have three (3) years of experience in the field consistent with the requirements set forth in Essential Duties and Responsibilities.
Airframe & Power Plant license is required for specific work requirements.
Three (3) years of experience with aircraft maintenance on the type of aircraft being serviced or related experience required.
Must have a valid state driver’s license.
Language Ability
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.
Computer Skills
Internet software, E-mail, and Microsoft Office.
Certificates, Licenses, Registration
This position requires a current FAA Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) license.
Maintain current Driver’s License.
Ability to obtain airfield badge

The noise level in the environment is usually loud.
Employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.
The employee is occasionally exposed to explosives and vibration.
Will be required to wear protective equipment such as hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.
Work at a minimum 8 hours a day and overtime when required. Due to the nature of the business, it may be required to work weekends or holidays.
