- Mowing the grass and maintaining other turf areas, including fertilizing, seeding, and aerating the grass as needed
- Removing debris from the course, including fallen trees and branches, garbage, or other unwanted items that have been discarded on the property
- Spraying pesticides on weeds, insects, or other organisms that threaten the health of the grass or other plants on the course
- Maintaining the irrigation system to ensure that all grass areas receive adequate moisture throughout the day
- Installing new lawns and repairing damaged areas on golf courses
- Fertilizing and irrigating plants to promote growth and prevent disease
- Installing artificial turf in place of natural grass when it is worn out or damaged beyond repair
- Trimming bushes and trees to promote healthy growth and prevent damage to the course infrastructure
- Repairing holes in the greens when they are damaged by golf balls that land in them too often
- Most employers require a minimum of a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of one year of experience in groundskeeping, landscaping or another related field preferred
