Toledo Jet is seeking an experienced Aviation Quality Assurance (QA) Manager to oversee and continuously improve our Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance programs. This critical leadership position is responsible for ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, Repair Station requirements, company procedures, and industry best practices while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented aviation professional with extensive regulatory knowledge, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of aircraft maintenance quality and operational compliance.
Position Summary
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality control and quality assurance programs across maintenance operations. This position serves as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, oversees internal audits, monitors compliance initiatives, and works collaboratively with department leaders to ensure Toledo Jet consistently exceeds industry standards.
Key Responsibilities: Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Manage and maintain the company Quality Assurance Program.
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality Control Manual (QCM), and company procedures.
- Monitor compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), and manufacturer requirements.
- Review and approve maintenance records, documentation, and regulatory filings.
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented and tracked to resolution.
Auditing & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and conduct internal audits of maintenance, avionics, and support departments.
- Monitor quality trends and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Manage corrective and preventive action programs (CAPA).
- Investigate quality-related findings and ensure timely resolution.
- Develop quality metrics and performance indicators to measure operational effectiveness.
Regulatory Oversight
- Serve as the primary point of contact with FAA inspectors and regulatory agencies.
- Coordinate FAA inspections, audits, and surveillance activities.
- Maintain Repair Station certificates, manuals, and regulatory documentation.
- Ensure company manuals remain current and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor regulatory changes and implement necessary procedural updates.
Training & Leadership
- Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Provide regulatory guidance and training to maintenance and avionics personnel.
- Support employee development through quality and compliance education initiatives.
- Partner with department managers to strengthen quality performance across all operations.
- Assist leadership with strategic planning related to safety and compliance initiatives.
Risk Management & Safety
- Support Safety Management System (SMS) initiatives.
- Identify operational risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Monitor safety reporting and quality assurance trends.
- Ensure lessons learned are communicated and incorporated into company procedures.
Qualifications Required
- Minimum 7 years of aviation maintenance, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance experience.
- Strong working knowledge of FAA regulations, including Part 145, Part 43, Part 91, and Part 135 operations.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
- Strong understanding of aircraft maintenance documentation and recordkeeping requirements.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proven leadership and project management experience.
Preferred
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
- FAA Inspection Authorization (IA).
- Previous Quality Assurance or Chief Inspector experience within a Part 145 Repair Station.
- Experience supporting Part 135 charter operations.
- Safety Management System (SMS) experience.
- Aviation quality certifications or formal quality management training.
- Experience with turbine and corporate aircraft maintenance operations.
