Description:
RAM Aerospace is a leader in aerospace innovation, powering flight and space exploration with precision solenoids, valves, actuators, and position sensing solutions. Since 1975, we've supported missions like the Space Shuttle and continue to deliver mission-critical components for commercial, defense, and satellite systems. Headquartered in St. George, Utah, our advanced manufacturing facility produces the precision solenoids, valves, and actuators that aerospace programs worldwide depend on. Our Valencia facility extends that capability with specialized manufacturing of LVDTs and RVDTs — critical position sensing devices used across a broad range of aerospace and defense applications. As one of Southern Utah's largest employers, we drive economic growth and offer high-skilled careers in engineering and manufacturing. From both facilities, we build the future of aerospace—on time, with excellence, and as a team. Join us to work on groundbreaking technology and help shape the future of flight and space exploration. Your career takes off here!
At RAM Aerospace, a clean, safe, and well-maintained facility isn't just a matter of appearance — it's a direct contributor to product quality, FOD prevention, and the operational excellence our customers depend on. As Janitorial Supervisor, you'll lead a hands-on team responsible for keeping RAM's precision aerospace manufacturing environment in peak condition every single day. This is a working supervisor role — you'll lead by example on the floor while simultaneously developing your team, coordinating complex multi-area workloads, and driving the cleanliness and safety standards that protect both our people and our products. If you take pride in building cohesive, high-performing teams and find genuine satisfaction in work that directly supports mission-critical manufacturing operations, this role offers meaningful impact every shift.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & People Development: Lead, coach, and develop the janitorial team with a consistent focus on engagement, morale, and professional growth. Build genuine rapport across team members with diverse working styles and backgrounds — using clear expectations, real-time coaching, and constructive feedback to sustain a positive and high-performing team culture. Plan and delegate daily assignments across multiple facility areas, balance workloads to ensure consistently high-quality results, and champion continuous improvement and 5S lean principles by encouraging team input on process enhancements and helping implement the best ideas.
- Hands-On Operations & Task Coordination: Serve as a true working supervisor — actively performing the full range of janitorial tasks alongside the team every day, leading by example in technique, thoroughness, and work ethic. Coordinate and execute a high volume of daily, weekly, and periodic tasks with strong organizational discipline, sequencing work to support manufacturing schedules, minimize operational disruption, and uphold the rigorous cleanliness standards required in a precision aerospace production environment.
- Equipment, Chemical & Safety Management: Safely operate, maintain, and train team members on all cleaning equipment and machinery. Own the chemical program end-to-end — proper product selection, accurate dilution, labeling, storage, and application — in full compliance with SDS requirements and applicable safety regulations. Respond immediately and effectively to spills, urgent requests, or facility emergencies, coordinating resources calmly and minimizing operational impact.
- Quality Assurance & FOD Prevention: Conduct regular area inspections to identify deficiencies early and drive timely corrective action, maintaining facilities in a constant state of tour readiness. Champion safety and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention awareness across the team — helping every team member understand how their work protects product integrity and prevents contamination in a high-precision manufacturing environment. Enforce all safety policies, PPE requirements, and emergency procedures without exception.
- Administrative & Cross-Functional Partnership: Own scheduling, timekeeping, attendance tracking, and task completion documentation. Produce clear, accurate reports on productivity, supplies, training, and inspections as required by leadership. Manage supplies and equipment inventory — controlling costs, maintaining appropriate stock levels, evaluating vendors, and identifying cost-saving opportunities without sacrificing quality or safety. Collaborate actively with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and other departments to align janitorial support with operational priorities and facility needs.
Requirements:
- Legal: Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening.
- ITAR: Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum (due to ITAR requirements).
- High school diploma or GED required; additional training or certification in facilities management, industrial cleaning, or supervision strongly preferred.
- Prior experience in a janitorial, facilities, or custodial supervisory role required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail — comfortable planning and executing complex, multi-area workloads with a high volume of distinct tasks while maintaining consistently high standards.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills — able to give clear direction, document work accurately, deliver feedback effectively, and interact professionally at all levels of the organization.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, GHS/SDS chemical safety, equipment operation, and basic inventory management.
- Physical ability to perform all essential functions for full shifts, including prolonged standing and walking, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs regularly, pushing and pulling equipment, bending, reaching, and climbing as needed.
- Schedule flexibility required — may include early/late shifts, weekend or holiday coverage, and overtime as business needs dictate.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, cleanroom, or other high-precision FOD-sensitive environments strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and 5S workplace organization a plus.
- Experience with work order software, digital scheduling, or inventory management tools a plus.
