Sr. Pilot Plant Technologist - Dairy Foods
Role Overview
We are seeking a Sr. Pilot Plant technician to join the Dairy Foods Pilot Plant team enabling the successful execution of innovation, product development, and process improvement trials by setting up, operating, and maintaining pilot-scale processing equipment in a safe, reliable, and compliant manner.
This position ensures trials are executed effectively by collecting and documenting accurate data, maintaining records for safety, sanitation, quality, and regulatory requirements, supporting Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, and FSMA compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain processing equipment within the Dairy Foods Pilot Plant.
- Perform and support preventive maintenance on Pilot Plant equipment to promote reliable operation and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Collect data and maintain accurate records and documentation for trials, safety, and sanitation activities.
- Communicate effectively with customers and immediate team members to support alignment and timely execution of work.
- Collaborate effectively within a close-knit team environment by resolving issues through clear communication, professionalism, and respect for diverse work styles.
- Collaborate with the Pilot Plant Manager and team to develop, update, and maintain equipment SOPs, SSOPs, and OPLs.
- Support the Pilot Plant and Safety Teams to help ensure all Pilot Plant work is performed safely and in compliance with applicable safety expectations.
- Work with the Pilot Plant Manager and team to maintain current and accurate FSMA documentation.
- Clean and sanitize facilities and equipment in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, and FSMA requirements.
- Lead or support Land O’ Lakes operating systems, such as Ariba, Maintain X and our Electronic Learning Notebook
- As needed, assume additional responsibilities related to environmental, food safety, safety, shipping/receiving deliveries.
Required Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or technical training preferred.
- Four or more years of relevant experience in pilot plant operations, plant operations, maintenance, or a related environment - required
- 1 or more years of experience with maintenance; including maintenance of machinery - required
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and OneNote; ability to learn new computer software - required
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift, carry or move up to 50lbs - required
Salary range: $81,200 - $89,040 (in most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges)
