Job Overview
The Airport Manager is responsible for oversight and management of the Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport under the management contract of AV8 Consulting & Management, LLC. contract. This position reports to AV8’s Chief Operating Officer, and oversees aircraft operations, building and field maintenance, community relations, tenant compliance with lease and agreement terms, and enforcement of applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to airport operations, safety, and security. The Airport Manager also supports planning for future growth and expansion; helps develop and submit the annual budget; coordinates construction, maintenance, and other airport work with tenants, public utilities, and contractors; promotes compatible airport activities within surrounding communities; and performs related duties as assigned.
Duties
- Performs duties as Airport Manager.
- Consults frequently with the COO, and department directors, helps develop policy and procedural directives for the City’s possible adoption, and carries out policies and directives of the Airport Sponsor.
- Assists in creating policy recommendations to the Airport Sponsor regarding compliance requirements of federal and state directives affecting airport operations and development.
- By direction, represents the Sponsor when communicating with legislative bodies and public officials.
- Administers airport capital improvement projects approved by the Sponsor to include: planning, making application and accepting FAA/federal and State grants, and any future amendments thereto, on behalf of the Sponsor; to administer project design development and specifications; bidding, compile bid results, and execute contracts for those grant projects; and to make all payments authorized by the grant agreements; all authorization contingent upon being in full compliance with federal and state sponsor assurances.
- Promotes development of programs to maximize revenue sources for the operation and maintenance of the airport and be financially self-sufficient.
- Interprets and enforces laws, ordinances, rules and regulations governing all airport operations and activities.
- Develops and oversees procedures and systems for the inspection, maintenance, safety and security of airport infrastructure, facilities, buildings, structures, equipment and grounds.
- As directed, prepares written and oral reports for presentation to the Airport Sponsor or other appropriate governmental agencies and the public as required.
- Perform all others tasks as assigned.
- Interfaces with governmental agencies, civic and business organizations.
Skills/Qualifications
- A Bachelors Degree in Aviation Management, Business Management, or a related field.
- Two (2) years of experience in Airport Management, or a similar field, required.
- AAAE CM designation required.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
