Research positions (postdoc, junior, senior level) in continuum, multiphysics modeling of materials and processing are available at the NASA Ames Research Center. We are developing a multiscale modeling capability for rational design of materials and systems for aerospace applications. Computational expertise in multiphysics, fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, process modeling, electrochemistry, energy storage devices, etc. are of interest. We have multi-disciplinary teams (chemists, physicists, engineers) working on both experimental and computational issues.
Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline, such as Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Computational Engineering, Applied Mathematics, etc. before the commencement of the appointment.
The ideal candidate will have a solid theoretical physics and mathematical background, significant scientific programming experience as well as extensive demonstrated expertise with standard software packages.
Candidates should have significant research experience as demonstrated by a strong record of first author publications.
