Job Title: Accounting Manager
Reports to: Director of Accounting
FLSA: Full-Time/Exempt
Travel Requirements: Ad Hoc (10-20%)
Position Summary: The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and processing all daily accounting activities associated with ongoing construction and manufacturing projects in a fast-paced aviation environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, a thorough understanding of long-term construction contract accounting, job costing principles, WIP reporting, and excellent communication skills to coordinate with cross-functional departments, contractors and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the day-to-day activities and output of a team of accounting staff.
- Prioritize competing deadlines across the team, reallocating resources as needed to meet team and organizational objectives.
- Develop and maintain month-end and year-end close timelines, monitoring progress to ensure accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Review and approve assigned journal entries and account reconciliations and maintain integrity of the general ledger.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with accounting staff to provide coaching, feedback, and career development guidance.
- Facilitate team meetings and communications to ensure alignment and a shared understanding of priorities and deadlines.
- Assist in preparation of periodic financial statements with the SEC and MSRB.
- Interface with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls over financial reporting (i.e., Sarbanes Oxley).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support company initiatives, forecasting, and other business decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency through automation and technology.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
- 4-6 years of progressive experience in accounting or a Big 4 public accounting firm.
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP accounting standards and its application to real estate, construction and manufacturing transactions.
- Experience with SEC reporting requirements and SOX compliance.
- Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and workstreams simultaneously while maintaining a meticulous level of detail and a high regard for precision.
- Sound judgement and decision-making ability with a demonstrated commitment to ethical standards and integrity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships across cross-functional teams and external parties.
- Proficiency in Oracle NetSuite ERP system.
- Demonstrate interest in leveraging technology, including familiarity with AI platforms and other productivity tools, to modernize accounting processes and improving team productivity.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
