Aviation | Part 91 & Part 135 Charter Operations
We are seeking a hands-on, commercially minded CFO to lead finance for a growing aviation platform operating in a capital-intensive, regulated, and service-driven environment. This role is designed for a finance executive who can translate aircraft utilization, charter activity, maintenance costs, fleet economics, financing, cash flow, and compliance requirements into clear operating decisions for ownership and leadership.
Role Overview
The CFO will own accounting, reporting, treasury, tax, audit, forecasting, budgeting, internal controls, and financial strategy. The right candidate will be equally comfortable in the boardroom and in the details—building financial discipline, improving visibility, supporting growth, and protecting profitability across aircraft management, charter operations, maintenance activity, and fleet expansion.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead all finance, accounting, treasury, tax, audit, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting functions.
· Serve as a strategic advisor to ownership and executive leadership on capital allocation, liquidity, financing, fleet growth, acquisitions, and long-term planning.
· Develop financial models that evaluate aircraft acquisitions, charter expansion, management agreements, operating margins, utilization, and return on invested capital.
· Manage cash flow in a capital-intensive operating environment, including aircraft-related expenses, maintenance reserves, owner settlements, vendor payments, and working capital needs.
· Oversee timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
· Strengthen internal controls, policies, processes, and financial systems to support disciplined growth.
· Partner with operations, maintenance, charter, and executive teams to improve profitability, cost visibility, and decision-making.
· Support banking relationships, financing structures, insurance reviews, tax planning, audits, and external advisor coordination.
Required Qualifications
· Active CPA designation preferred.
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
· 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience.
· 5+ years in a senior finance leadership role such as CFO, VP Finance, Controller, or equivalent.
· Strong command of GAAP, financial reporting, cash management, forecasting, budgeting, internal controls, and tax/audit coordination.
· Proven ability to communicate financial performance, risk, and tradeoffs clearly to owners, executives, lenders, and operational leaders.
Preferred Aviation Experience
Strong preference will be given to candidates with finance leadership experience in one or more of the following aviation environments: Part 135 charter operators, Part 91 corporate flight departments, aircraft management companies, FBOs, MRO organizations, airlines or regional carriers, fractional ownership programs, or other aircraft-intensive operating businesses.
