General Summary
Under the supervision of the Airport Manager, the General Manager oversees all aspects of the Fixed Base Operation (FBO) including customer relations, line operations, accounting, and health, safety, and environment functions. Plan, direct, and coordinate activities for the sale and provision of general aviation support services such as fuel, hangar, and office rental.
Essential Functions
1. Foster and maintain a culture of excellence that promotes safety and service, consistent with best practices for the FBO industry.
2. Assists Human Resources and the Airport Manager with recruitment, hiring, and training. Participates in selection of candidates and interviews. May make recommendations for hiring.
3. Ensure proper staffing levels are maintained based on daily/weekly/monthly volumes.
4. Identify new growth opportunities and track industry news to continually improve product offerings, services, and pricing.
5. Assists in business development efforts, inclusive of new business capture and business partnerships.
6. Foster the growth of long-term customer loyalty through regular engagement and exceeding customer expectations on a repeatable basis.
7. Assists with negotiations of tenant leases, large fleet, transient, airline underwriting agreements and vendor agreements.
8. Responsible for financial management of base including capital expenditures, forecasting, budgeting, audit performance, and expense management.
9. Manages aviation fuel farm, fueling trucks and aircraft fueling operations to ensure compliance with all federal and state regulatory agencies.
10. Responsible for proper handling, disposal, and record keeping of numerous aviation related hazardous materials.
11. Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the County’s policies and applicable laws.
12. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Employment Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Aviation Management, or related area. Additional experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree.
Experience: Five (5) years of management experience. Three (3) years of direct Fixed Base Operation (FBO) experience in business and general aviation is preferred.
Other Requirements:
· Valid MI Driver’s License
· Industry knowledge of business and general aviation, and commercial aviation ground support operations, inclusive of fueling, ground handling and ancillary services.
· Ability to multi-task daily while easily being able to reclaim focus.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
· Comfortable delivering presentations to audiences of various sizes and backgrounds, from employees to customers, to airport officials.
· Security Clearance: Prior to actual employment, must pass a 10-year Criminal History Background Record Check (CHRC) as required by the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration.
· Ability to meet or exceed all requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration Federal Aviation Regulation mandated personnel regulations at an air carrier airport.

· Ability to withstand moderate to heavy physical exertion to fuel aircraft and handle baggage.
· Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Pay: $28.23 - $34.44 per hour
