Job Summary
The Aviation Instrument & Accessories Painter is responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing aviation instruments, panels, and related components in accordance with aerospace quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role ensures precision finishing, durability, and compliance with industry specifications while maintaining high safety and workmanship standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare aviation instruments, panels, bezels, housings, and accessories for painting (cleaning, sanding, masking, priming).
- Apply coatings, primers, and specialty aerospace paints using spray guns, airbrush systems, and other precision equipment.
- Mix paints and coatings according to manufacturer and aerospace specifications.
- Ensure compliance with FAA, EASA, or other applicable regulatory and quality standards.
- Inspect finished products for surface defects, thickness, adhesion, and overall quality.
- Operate and maintain painting booths, curing ovens, and ventilation systems safely.
- Follow workplace safety procedures, including proper handling of hazardous materials and PPE usage.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification in aerospace painting preferred).
- Proven experience in precision painting, preferably in aerospace, automotive, or industrial environments.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control standards.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of corrosion prevention treatments.
- Ability to work in cleanroom or controlled environments.
Work Environment
- Work performed in controlled paint booths or aviation maintenance facilities.
- Exposure to paints, solvents, and chemical coatings (proper PPE required).
- May require standing for extended periods and handling small precision components.
