Avionics Technician

McDermott Aviation is seeking a skilled Avionics Technician to support installation, troubleshooting, modification, and repair of complex aircraft electronic systems. This role is suited to a technician with strong hands-on diagnostic capability and experience working within FAA-regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation, testing, calibration, and fault isolation of avionics systems
- Interpret and work from wiring diagrams, schematics, IPCs, and maintenance manuals
- Use specialized diagnostic equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, test sets) to evaluate system performance
- Repair and replace wiring, connectors, LRUs, and electrical components
- Complete detailed logbook entries and maintenance documentation in compliance with FAA regulations
- Respond to aircraft-on-ground (AOG) events, including after-hours technical support when required
Qualifications
- FAA A&P Certificate (required)
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must meet FAA and company safety requirements
Experience & Technical Skills
- Experience in an aircraft hangar or heavy maintenance environment
- Strong knowledge of aircraft electrical distribution and avionics integration
- Proven ability to diagnose intermittent faults and complex system failures
- Proficient in reading and interpreting wiring schematics and engineering drawings
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and documentation standards
