Supervisor – Aviation Ground Safety

The Role
Are you a safety professional with a passion for aviation excellence? We are seeking a Supervisor – Aviation Ground Safety to lead our safety program within a high-tempo, contractor-operated aviation maintenance facility in Abu Dhabi.
In this pivotal role, you will be the boots-on-the-ground leader responsible for protecting our most valuable assets: our people and our fleet. You will bridge the gap between regulatory compliance and operational reality, fostering a proactive safety culture that goes beyond just "checking boxes."
Key Responsibilities
As a supervisor, you will oversee the implementation of safety practices across all ground operations. Your core duties include:
- Program Leadership: Coordinate safety and occupational health programs, ensuring seamless compliance with contractor, customer, and local regulatory requirements.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify unsafe conditions and implement technical or administrative controls to mitigate risks in hazardous materials handling, heavy machinery, and aircraft ground support.
- Inspections & Auditing: Conduct regular facility audits, advising management and Customer representatives on best-in-class safety practices.
- Incident Investigation: Lead root-cause analysis for accidents or near-misses and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Education & Training: Design and deliver high-impact safety training, bulletins, and newsletters to keep safety at the forefront of every team member's mind.
- Strategic Collaboration: Work alongside procurement, medical, fire protection, and industrial hygiene departments to align safety objectives across the organization.
Key Requirements
- We are looking for a seasoned professional who understands the unique pressures of an aviation maintenance environment.
- Experience: A minimum of 7 years in occupational safety and health or a related discipline.
- Sector Expertise (Preferred): * 7+ years of direct military experience as a Unit Safety Officer, OR
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of SMS principles, hazardous material handling, and aviation fire prevention.
- Communication: Exceptional ability to educate and influence both contractor staff and Customer stakeholders.
