We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Operations/Shop Supervisor - A&P Mechanic to lead our maintenance and manufacturing teams in a fast-paced aviation environment. This role combines hands-on aircraft and equipment maintenance with supervisory responsibilities, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency across all shop operations. Duties
- Supervise daily shop operations, including aircraft maintenance, fabrication, assembly, and equipment repair activities.
- Lead and coordinate a team of A&P mechanics, ensuring tasks are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
- Perform root cause analysis on maintenance issues to identify underlying problems and implement effective solutions.
- Oversee the use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, ohmmeters, ammeters, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to ensure high-quality work.
- Review schematics, CAD drawings (including CATIA and AutoCAD), and electrical diagrams to facilitate accurate repairs and modifications.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant standards including FAA regulations, AS9100 aerospace quality standards, and federal aviation safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed records using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for work orders, inspections, and maintenance logs.
- Promote a safety-first environment by conducting regular safety audits, training sessions on welding, soldering, heavy lifting techniques, and proper use of power tools.
- Manage inventory levels of parts and tools such as hand tools, sheet metal materials, fabrication supplies, and precision instruments.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing operational processes for efficiency gains and implementing best practices in manufacturing and aviation maintenance.
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience with a strong background in aircraft or vehicle maintenance within the aviation or military sectors.
- Extensive knowledge of airframe structures, avionics systems, electrical systems, sheet metal fabrication, welding techniques (including soldering), and power tool operation.
- Familiarity with schematics interpretation using CAD software like CATIA or AutoCAD; experience with schematic diagrams is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis on complex mechanical or electrical issues.
- Experience working under FAA regulations (Federal Aviation Regulations) as well as aerospace quality standards such as AS9100 is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, ohmmeters, ammeters; ability to perform accurate measurements is essential.
- Strong leadership skills with prior supervisory or team lead roles in manufacturing or aviation environments.
- Knowledge of CMMS systems for maintenance tracking; familiarity with aviation-specific documentation requirements is a plus.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely while maintaining proper ergonomics; comfort working with hand tools and power tools in a fast-paced setting. Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per hour
