Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Repair and Overhaul Aerospace Engineer to join our innovative team. In this role, you will lead the design, analysis, and execution of repair and overhaul processes for aerospace components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Your expertise will drive improvements in manufacturing efficiency, system reliability, and product quality while supporting our commitment to safety and excellence in aerospace maintenance.
Responsibilities
- The Repair and Overhaul Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing repair solutions for aerospace engine components to restore parts to serviceable condition while meeting strict regulatory, safety, and performance requirements. This role focuses on creating new repair processes and supporting the management, improvement, and sustainment of existing repairs across a range of engine hardware.
Key responsibilities include analyzing damaged or worn components, evaluating repair feasibility, and developing innovative repair methods that meet engineering, manufacturing, and certification standards. The engineer collaborates closely with design engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to validate repair techniques, develop technical documentation, and ensure repairs are cost-effective and repeatable in production environments.
In addition to new repair development, the engineer supports the lifecycle management of existing repair processes by troubleshooting technical issues, driving continuous improvement, updating repair instructions, and ensuring compliance with aerospace regulations and company standards. The role often involves conducting engineering analysis, supporting qualification testing, reviewing inspection data, and coordinating with suppliers or repair facilities.
Job Responsibilities:
Expand AMT’s capability and business by developing expanded repairs.
- Develop new repair processes and techniques for aerospace engine components to restore parts to serviceable condition.
- Evaluate damaged or worn engine hardware to determine repair feasibility and technical approach.
- Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation including repair procedures, process specifications, and technical work instructions.
- Support the qualification and validation of new repair methods through testing, analysis, and documentation.
- Collaborate with design engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to implement new repair capabilities.
- Provide technical support to repair shops and production teams to resolve issues related to repair processes.
- Manage and maintain existing repair processes, including updates, improvements, and troubleshooting.
- Conduct root cause analysis on repair failures or process issues and implement corrective actions.
- Evaluate inspection data, engineering drawings, and material specifications to ensure repairs meet regulatory and company requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve repair efficiency, cost, and turnaround time through process improvements.
- Support supplier or external repair vendor technical guidance and ensure compliance with engineering requirements.
- Participate in engineering reviews, failure investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure repair processes comply with aerospace regulatory standards, quality systems, and safety requirements.
- Provide technical input for repair capability expansion and strategic repair development initiatives.
Education/experience:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or related technical field required.
- Minimum 2 years engineering or related technical experience required
Qualifications:
- Technical writing expertise.
- Requires self-starter skills and the ability to investigate the problem statement for each condition, part, and proposed solution.
- Ability to thrive in a team environment that requires peer reviews and cross-functional sharing of information.
- Technical and operational understanding of various maintenance operation processing techniques, and mechanical systems.
- Knowledgeable in computer applications relating to the job including MS Office, CAD/CAM software, and other aerospace applications.
- Project management skills including the ability to prioritize, multitask, and deliver timely results.
- Able to run analytical justifications through hand calculation if required.
- Understanding of production processes, OEM manual data, and proper use of GD&T.
- Able to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Good communication skills including written and verbal.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
