- Inspect / assess damage to aircraft structural components and formulate proper repair/replacement procedures utilizing applicable technical data.
- Remove and install close tolerance, high-strength fasteners in major aircraft structural components.
- Advises on structural repair, modification, and corrosion protection treatment with respect to original strength, weight, and contour to maintain structural integrity.
- Performs post repair flight control weight and balance functions as well as control surface rigging per designated technical orders.
- Inspect components/repairs for structural serviceability according to specifications and technical publications.
- Manufactures / use jigs, fixtures, forms, and molds to fabricate repair or replacement parts.
- Uses advanced metalworking practices, equipment, and tools to form, cut, bend, and fasten replacement or repair parts to damaged structures and components.
- Uses shop drawing and metal layout techniques; shop mathematics; corrosion identification, removal, repair, and prevention; cleaning of metals; application of protective coatings, and markings.
- Closes completed maintenance discrepancies in automated maintenance systems.
- Document maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements.
- Stores, handles, and disposes of hazardous waste and materials according to environmental standards and company processes.
- Operates and maintains related aircraft Support Equipment (SE).
- Use automated maintenance systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, document maintenance actions, and time change database.
- Perform regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks.
- Maintain strict tool control procedures. Report missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the supervisor. Inventory and inspect tools on a regular basis and replace worn or broken tools.
- Comply with safety rules and regulations while performing day to day maintenance. Promptly report all accidents, injuries, safety violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to supervisor.
- Maintain equipment records. Enter in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verify the work was performed satisfactorily.
- The Aircraft Structural Mechanic will be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Pay: $37.00 - $44.00 per hour
