NICHOLAS AIR is seeking an experienced Director of Aviation Safety to join the growing Part 135 operation based in Oxford, Mississippi. The Director of Aviation Safety is responsible for the oversight of the company’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) and overall safety culture in accordance with the FAA Part 135 regulations, while working closely with Executive Leadership, Flight Operations, Maintenance, and Training departments to ensure the company’s exceedingly high standards are met. Becoming a part of our leadership team as the Director of Aviation Safety requires you to meet a very stringent set of quality standards, with less than 3% of candidate applications being selected.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee a variety of methods utilized by NICHOLAS AIR to maintain safe and compliant under internal and external standards
- Develop, implement, and maintain an FAA-compliant Safety Management System (SMS)
- Manage risk assessment and safety reporting
- Serve as NICHOLAS AIR’s primary point of contact with regulators, vendors, and other third-party agents on safety-related matters.
- Prepare for and support Drug and Alcohol Abatement and FAA audits, inspections, and certifications
- Maintain oversight of internal audits and confidential safety reporting systems
- Work collaboratively with Flight Ops and Training to integrate safety data into all training initiatives
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation, Safety, or a related field
- Minimum 5 Years of Management Experience within a Part 135 Operation
- This position must report daily to the Oxford, Mississippi Headquarters
