Job Title: Project Accounting Analyst
Reports to: Director of Accounting
FLSA: Full-Time
Travel Requirements: Ad hoc (20-30%)
Position Summary: The Project Accounting Analyst is responsible for organizing and processing all daily accounting activities associated with ongoing construction and manufacturing projects in a fast-paced aviation environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, a thorough understanding of long-term construction contract accounting, job costing principles, WIP reporting, and excellent communication skills to coordinate with cross-functional departments, contractors and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and monitor all financial aspects of construction and manufacturing projects.
- Track and record project-related costs, ensuring alignment with contract terms, construction industry standards, and company policies.
- Review processed invoices from contractors and vendors, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close activities, including the preparation of assigned account reconciliations and journal entries.
- Review detailed job cost reports and analyze variances between actual and budgeted project costs.
- Allocate internal labor and other costs to respective construction and accounting projects.
- Manage assigned fixed asset and prepaid expense accounts along with monthly depreciation and amortization as applicable.
- Oversee construction material inventory records, including the management of inventory cycle counts.
- Assist in preparation of periodic financial statements and reports and generate regular reporting relating to construction and manufacturing projects.
- Interface with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls over financial reporting (i.e., Sarbanes Oxley).
- Assist corporate accounting in other capacities as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in construction accounting or a Big 4 public accounting firm.
- Understanding of US GAAP accounting standards, with strong knowledge of ASC 606 required and knowledge of ASC 810 preferred.
- Understanding of expense allocation and job costing principles.
- Prior experience with cloud-based construction management and ERP system software; experience with Oracle NetSuite ERP a plus.
- Familiarity with AI platforms and tools.
- Strong analytical, reasoning, communication, math, and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Detail oriented with a high regard for precision.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross functional teams.
- Advanced Microsoft suite skills, particularly Excel.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
