First Flight Aviation at Dayton-Wright Bothers Airport has an opening for an assistant avionics manager / Shop Lead. The Ideal candidate will have 8+ years of increasing responsibility and experience in avionics and will be responsible for assisting in executing advanced avionics installations, troubleshooting, and inspections on corporate and general aviation aircraft. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced aviation professional who is looking to broaden their expertise in both avionics and maintenance disciplines. The assistant avionics manager / shop lead will lead installation and maintenance projects, mentor junior technicians, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with FAA regulations.
Job Description
Tasks for the Assistant Avionics Manager / Shop Lead:
- Build estimates to bid for General Aviation customers.
- Test and troubleshoot instruments, components, and assembles, using appropriate tools.
- Assist and participate with aircraft avionics installations.
- Perform FAR 43 Appendix E and F certifications along with RVSM certs.
- Keep record of work performed in accordance with company policies & FAA requirements.
- Coordinate work with operators and other personnel as necessary to accomplish tasks.
- Interpret flight and test data to diagnose malfunctions & systemic performance problems.
- Demonstrate proficiency in use of common tools and test equipment applicable to avionics.
- Fabricating parts and test aids as required.
Knowledge and experience requirements for the Assistant Avionics Manager / Shop Lead:
· Proficient knowledge of electronics, computers, and software used in Avionics department.
· Proficient in avionics squawk servicing and retrofit installations.
· Proficient in performing FAR 43 Appendix E and F certifications.
· Practical experience in meeting customers’ needs on aircraft avionics systems.
· Familiarity with Garmin, Avidyne, Aspen Avionics, and Genesys Aerosystems equipment.
· 8+ years of practical experience in these specific areas.
· Familiar with business & management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, human resources, leadership, productivity methods, and coordination of people and resources to maximize the effectiveness of the department.
Credentials:
· FAA Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic Certificate OR an FAA Repairman Certificate (required).
· FAA Pilot Certificate preferrable.
· College/secondary education related to aviation preferrable.
· NCAAT Aircraft Electronic Technician certification preferrable.
· FCC General Radiotelephone Operator Certificate preferrable.
