Job Summary:
Vighter is actively seeking compassionate and mission-driven Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide in-flight medical care and basic screening assessments to individuals detained by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Nurses operate in a unique and dynamic environment during repatriation flight missions and ground-based healthcare encounters.
You will work under the administrative oversight of the Program Manager and Regional Deputy Program Manager, with clinical direction from the National Medical Director and Physician Supervisors. Care is provided in compliance with DHS protocols and Vighter’s medical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver in-flight nursing services during repatriation missions, ensuring continuity of care and medical oversight.
- Conduct health screenings, medication administration, and acute care services in detention or mobile field settings.
- Review medical records and ensure proper compliance with transportation protocols.
- Provide health education and support for detainees, including children, pregnant women, and medically complex individuals.
- Prepare and manage necessary medical supplies for routine and emergency care during flights.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in accordance with Vighter and federal standards.
- Function independently and exercise clinical judgment in unique or high-pressure situations.
- Respond to medical emergencies in-flight, making sound decisions to stabilize patients.
- Work in various settings including secure detention centers, soft-sided (tent-like) facilities, and mobile field units.
Qualifications:
- Active, unencumbered RN license in the state of Texas (or Compact license ).
- Minimum of 1 year experience in direct patient care.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Must hold a valid U.S. passport.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred, but not required.
- Must be comfortable working in detention and flight environments.
Skills & Competencies:
- Capable of managing unstable or complex medical conditions with minimal supervision.
- High adaptability to changing environments and travel demands.
- Excellent judgment and situational awareness in medical and logistical emergencies.
- Clear and timely communication and documentation skills.
Work Schedule:
- Availability for day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts required.
- Part-time to Full-time progression based on performance and need.
- Advance scheduling provided, though mission needs may require flexibility.
Travel Requirements:
- Frequent and continuous travel required.
- Includes international travel via air assets.
- Work conducted onsite at detention facilities and in-flight.
