A well-established local business in the carbon county area, serving the aviation community for more than 30 years, is seeking an experienced A&P Mechanic with Inspection Authorization (IA) to provide services as a 1099 independent contractor. This opportunity is best suited for an established aviation professional operating independently and offering technical expertise in a small, hands-on environment.
The engagement offers an anticipated workload of approximately 40–50 hours per week, with flexibility in scheduling and work sequencing, based on operational needs and mutual agreement. Compensation is up to $60 per hour, depending on experience and scope of services provided. Contractors must reside within reasonable commuting distance of Lehighton, PA or independently relocate to the area. This position is not benefit eligible, and contractors are responsible for supplying their own tools, licensing, and insurance as applicable.
The contractor will perform aircraft inspections, maintenance, and related services in accordance with FAA regulations and IA authority, while exercising independent judgment in the manner and means used to complete assigned work. Contractors are expected to maintain accurate documentation, comply with applicable safety and regulatory requirements, and deliver services in a professional, timely, and safety-conscious manner.
This business values contractors who are reliable, self-directed, and take ownership of their work, demonstrate sound safety practices, and maintain a professional presence while on site. The relationship is intended to be collaborative and results-focused, with an emphasis on quality outcomes rather than direct supervision.
Qualified individuals are invited to apply with a summary of experience and current certifications. Additional engagement details will be discussed during the interview process.
