Major Function
Safety Controls Technology (SCT), a nationally recognized occupational safety and health consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Safety Manager / Safety Specialist to support construction and industrial clients across the country. This role is responsible for driving regulatory compliance, reducing risk, and advancing client safety culture through proactive leadership, assessment, training, and incident management.

Essential Functions
- The candidate will serve as an integral member of the Client’s Safety Team, assisting the primary SSHO. Specific responsibilities include:
- Performing site walks to engage and interact with workers and documenting actions and observations.
- Attending subcontractor morning huddles and Safe Plan of Action (SPA) meetings for evaluation.
- Reviewing subcontractor safety on-board packages and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs must be submitted to USACE for acceptance before work starts).
- Creating and posting on-site safety signage.
- Attending all necessary Client’s team meetings, client progress meetings, and foreman meetings.
- Running orientation sessions and leading toolbox talks and lunch & learn sessions for the Client’s team.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Active CSP (Active SMP and/or CHST may be acceptable)
- Documentation of completed coursework/specialized training required to perform the duties of the CSP
- Documented experience on 5 or more successful projects similar to scope and size to ECB5 (>$100 million, ~700k sq ft); any and all Government/EM 385
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Work Schedule
- Site operating hours are 5:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The expected core work schedule is generally 6:00 AM–3:30 PM daily.
- Candidates will be expected to cover Saturday shifts a few times per month on a rotation schedule with the team, with several days’ notice.
- Candidates may also need to cover late shifts for unplanned work such as concrete pours or finishing, also based on a rotation schedule with as much advance notice as possible.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to move throughout construction and industrial environments, including climbing ladders and stairs.
- Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively within normal parameters.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Drug-free workplace.
