Lead a Team of Aviation Professionals
Toledo Jet is seeking an experienced and driven Avionics Manager to lead our avionics department and support the continued growth of our maintenance operations. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing avionics technicians, managing avionics projects, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer service.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a passion for developing high-performing teams while delivering exceptional results for our customers.
Position Summary
The Avionics Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the avionics department, including personnel management, project planning, customer coordination, quality control, and regulatory compliance. This role will work closely with Maintenance Management, Sales, and Customers to ensure avionics projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop avionics technicians and support personnel.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training department personnel.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities.
- Manage workforce scheduling and resource allocation to support operational needs.
Technical Operations
- Oversee avionics troubleshooting, repairs, installations, modifications, and upgrades.
- Review project scope, labor requirements, and technical specifications.
- Ensure proper execution of avionics installations and repairs in accordance with FAA regulations and manufacturer requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support for complex avionics projects.
- Support aircraft-on-ground (AOG) events and customer-critical maintenance situations.
Customer & Project Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for avionics customers.
- Prepare and review project estimates, work scopes, and labor requirements.
- Coordinate project schedules to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Communicate project status, delays, and completion timelines to customers and leadership.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and meet customer expectations.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, company policies, and repair station procedures.
- Maintain department quality standards and documentation requirements.
- Oversee work order reviews, logbook entries, and regulatory documentation.
- Support FAA audits, inspections, and internal quality assurance initiatives.
- Monitor department performance metrics and implement process improvements.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 7 years of avionics maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting experience.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience within aviation maintenance or avionics operations.
- Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, repair station operations, and aircraft maintenance documentation.
- Experience managing avionics projects from planning through completion.
- Proven leadership and team-building skills.
- Strong customer service and communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
- FAA Inspection Authorization (IA).
- Experience with Garmin, Collins Aerospace, Honeywell, Universal, and Genesys systems.
- Experience on Citation, Hawker, Learjet, King Air, Falcon, Bombardier, and Gulfstream aircraft.
- Previous Part 145 Repair Station management experience.
- Advanced avionics installation and certification experience.
