Your meaningful work will- help reduce the spread of vector-borne disease, as well as limit the amount of chemicals or emissions released into the environment (through rural and urban municipalities, agricultural applications, horticultural applications, and more!).
We are seeking a responsible and disciplined individual to assist with field work in support of UAS applications. The primary responsibility of the
Visual Observer (VO) is to provide visual support to the Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC). He/she will maintain visual line of sight with the aircraft, monitoring airspace and surroundings for hazards, and communicate real-time observations to support safe, compliant, and efficient drone operations. The VO will travel with the RPIC to application sites and is expected to remain in constant contact with the RPIC and serve as the ‘eyes on the ground’, always keeping track of the UAS. The ideal candidate will have a background in UAS engineering, avionics, and systems integration, along with a passion for precision agriculture and innovative aerial technology.

- Communicate: The VO must communicate clearly and effectively with the RPIC and visually assist the RPIC to navigate around obstructions and avoid distractions
- On site handling: The VO will also cycle and recharge batteries, handle UAS equipment and assist the RPIC with loading and unloading equipment
- Under the RPIC’s direction, provide ad hoc support with simple repairs, testing and troubleshooting UAS in the field
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

- Attention to detail – Notices small changes or emerging hazards that could affect flight safety
- Calm under pressure – Maintains focus and composure during time-sensitive or unexpected situations
- Team-oriented mindset – Works collaboratively with the RPIC and crew, understanding roles and following procedures; behaves professionally and respectfully when working with the RPIC, crew and customers
- Good judgment – Knows when to speak up, escalate concerns, or call for corrective action
- Reliability and discipline – Stays engaged throughout the operation without distraction
