Role Summary
The Avionics Technician 2 (AT 2) performs intermediate‑to‑advanced inspection, maintenance, modification, and troubleshooting of aircraft avionics, electrical, and cabin connectivity systems with limited supervision. The role supports Avionics Leads/Supervisors in planning daily work, validating parts/test equipment availability, mentoring junior technicians, and ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, NWA RSQM/RSM, and OEM/approved data. Primary fleet support includes Gulfstream G‑series aircraft (GIV, G450, GV, G550, and G650); however, responsibilities may extend to other aircraft types and manufacturers as business needs require.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Planning
· Assist Avionics Leads/Supervisors in daily task planning; take ownership of assigned work and support crew priorities.
· Accurately record labor for assigned tasks in Corridor/work orders; ensure timely, accurate entries and documentation.
· Verify required parts, wiring, connectors, avionics LRUs, calibrated test equipment, and outside services are identified and available to protect the critical path.
· Provide day‑to‑day technical guidance to less‑experienced technicians; support OJT and knowledge transfer.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
· Model a zero‑injury safety culture and enforce PPE, fall protection, FOD prevention, and environmental best practices.
· Ensure all work is performed IAW FAR Parts 43 & 145, RSQM, OEM maintenance manuals, and approved data.
· Coordinate with Quality/Inspection for RII and document control; ensure proper use of approved forms and sign‑offs.
· Maintain clean, organized work areas and ensure tools/test equipment are controlled and within calibration.
Technical Execution
· Perform troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, functional checks, and return‑to‑service testing on avionics/electrical systems including (as applicable): FMS/GPS/IRS, VHF/HF, transponder/ADS‑B, TCAS/TAWS, EGPWS, cabin/cockpit displays, AFCS/autopilot, CVR/FDR, ELT, Wi‑Fi and cabin connectivity (e.g., Gogo, Satcom Direct, Starlink), SATCOM/Iridium/Inmarsat, CMS/IFE, and aircraft networking.
· Perform/assist with pitot‑static/altimeter and transponder testing and checks when authorized; document results per approved procedures (e.g., 91.411 and 91.413).
· Load and configure avionics software/databases via approved data loaders; perform configuration control and post‑load checks.
· Read and interpret avionics wiring diagrams and schematics (WDM/SWM), IPC, SB/CB, and STC/installation data; fabricate and route harnesses and perform EWIS‑compliant repairs/modifications.
· Perform avionics installations and modifications per STC/approved data; complete required functional tests and paperwork closure for RTS.
· Support AOG/unscheduled events as assigned; travel and deploy on short notice when required.
Communication & Customer Focus
· Provide concise status updates on scope, schedule, risks, and next steps to leads, supervisors, and customers as directed.
· Partner with Materials/Supply Chain to expedite parts/alternates; minimize errors and line stoppages.
· Foster a professional, service‑oriented culture aligned with NWA values.
Minimum Qualifications
· 3 years of corporate/business jet avionics maintenance and troubleshooting experience, including inspections and post‑mod functional testing.
· Obtain a Repairman Certificate through NWA CRS.
· Working knowledge of FAR 43/65/91 and 145 and Repair Station processes (work orders, RTS, RII, tooling control, calibration, training records).
· Proficient with OEM technical data (AMM/WDM/SWM/SB/CB/IPC), electronic logbooks, and maintenance tracking systems.
· Computer literacy (Microsoft 365 and maintenance platforms); strong written and verbal communication.
· Must own and maintain a professional, shadowed personal tool set appropriate to the role.
· Able to lift/push/pull 70+ lb, bend/squat/climb/stand for extended periods, and work in varying environmental conditions.
· Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain airport/SIDA access as required.
· Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
· Mechanics (A&P): 14 CFR §65.71(a)(2) — must “be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.”
Preferred Qualifications
· Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate.
· OEM/factory avionics training (e.g., Gulfstream PlaneView/G550/G650), FANS 1/A+ and CPDLC experience.
· FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) and/or NCATT AET certification.
· Hands‑on experience with Gulfstream G‑series aircraft (GIV/G450/GV/G550/G650).
· Experience with SATCOM/IFEC/cabin connectivity systems and vendor portals (Gogo, Satcom Direct).
· Familiarity with CAMP, Corridor, CMP, or similar maintenance tracking systems.

Pay: $38.75 - $52.00 per hour
